Today’s scripture verse:
1 Thessalonians 5: 16-22 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.
What is the purpose of the Holy Spirit? He enters us at the moment of repentance and upon believing on the Lord Jesus. His purpose is to direct our life to be in line with the will of God, and to give us divine power to resist Satan. He guides us to accomplish the mission God sets before us, He intercedes with utterances in prayer when we know not what to speak, helping us in many, many circumstances. Then why do we not follow His lead? Whose church do we belong? Pastor So – N – So, congregation such N such, no if we intend to get to heaven, we must be in Jesus’ church. Jesus has to be the ultimate authority in our churches. Because without Jesus, there is no salvation, there is no forgiveness. Many times leaders will put restrictions on the church members that quench the Holy Spirit. Sometimes there are special needs and the Holy Spirit is ministering to a person or persons through others, and we quench the Spirit, by overruling people with rules not consistent with the Spirit. If the Holy Spirit was working in a situation where the power of God is being poured out to comfort those throughout, who, may I ask would complain? I will tell you, it would be the person without the Spirit. Does Satan use church members to accomplish his bidding? Absolutely. Another problem is revival. I always hear preachers and pastors announce their intent to have a revival, the first thing they do is put a time limit on it. Usually a three day event. How can you expect the Spirit to work when you restrict it with a time limit? When I was younger we had revivals for 2 weeks or until we heard from God. We can never have a revival as long as we restrict and quench the spirit. I tell you the church will become less, biblical prophecy will be fulfilled, because Satan and evilness must become more and the church less. We live in the end times, the Anti-Christ could very well be alive on earth today, maybe a child, but he is here. Draw close to God, do not quench the power of the Spirit. We hardly ever see the altars filled with repenting sinners, and as years continue, we will see less, we restrict the Spirit and God can’t work because the Church will not let Him.
